Giving advice on asylum generally requires a deep knowledge of national asylum law, as well as an efficient mobilisation strategy at national level. Open Technology Fund

The Open Technology Fund’s mission is to inform, engage and connect people around the world in support of freedom and democracy. They also provide a list of alternative sources of support/funding available.

Open Internet Tools Project (OpenITP)

OpenITP provides material support to free and open source software projects that make tools for circumventing digital surveillance and censorship.

European Union’s Digital Agenda for Europe

The European Commission supports the implementation of the Digital Agenda through a number of funding programmes, which regularly publish competitive Calls for Proposals for projects. The Commission also publishes Calls for Tender to obtain services as diverse as policy analyses and communications.

Swedish International Development Agency (SIDA)

Sida invites local and international civic organisations and other relevant actors to apply for funding for initiatives where ICT is being used to support democracy and freedom of expression.

Tech Challenge

The Tech Challenge for Atrocity Prevention competition series took place in 2013 and awarded prize money of up to $12,000 to the winning innovators who proposed technological solutions to combat and prevent mass atrocities. The five competitions, below each focused on a unique problem the Tech Challenge sought to solve.
